Beara Peninsula Driving Tour
The landscape of Beara is dominated by the Caha Mountain range which runs down the middle of the peninsula. The Beara Tour takes you over The Healy Pass, a windy mountain road 334 metres above sea level that passes between two of the highest peaks of the Caha range. The views from the Healy Pass are just amazing!
You will also travel along narrow coastal roads that follow the Wild Atlantic Way, with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Kenmare Bay. The wild seascapes will take your breath away.
Duration: 6-8 hours

“Two roads diverged in a wood and sorry I could not travel both
– I took the one less travelled and that’s what made all the difference”
The peninsula has a large concentration of historical and archaeological sites; stone circles, old copper mines, the ruins of Dunboy Castle, and Ireland’s largest Ogham Stone.
Explore the Traditional colourful villages of Allihies and Eyeries, overlooking the Atlantic. Visit the largest whitefish port of Ireland in Castletownbere. Take a stoll along the pier to watch the local fishing fleet bring in their fresh catches, and perhaps sample some of the fresh fish in one of the local pubs or restaurants.
